First edition, number 1 of 100 signed copies. 4to, [18] leaves of thick gray paper stock, text in Spanish, with silhouette cut-outs against different colored backing paper mounted to rectos only. Signed by Morales-Zamorano at the colophon. Bound in black paper wraps with silhouette cut-out tipped onto cover. English Translation of the text and resume of Morales-Zamorano on two typed sheets laid in at front, presumably as issued. Few smudges here and there, else nearly fine.

Scarce collage book from the Spanish-born, New York book artist, Francisco Morales-Zamorano (b. 1951).  The project is described by Morales-Zamorano as "Graphic synthesis based on the short story 'The Mine', a character of Magritte's, and the spectrum of papers Canson."  The resume notes Morales-Zamorano worked as a movie critic and wrote a few screen plays before becoming the Graphic Director of Gando Press.  He has published several artists books under his own name as well as the pen name "Civis."  His work is held at the Yale University Art Gallery, the Jack Ginsberg Centre for Book Arts, MoMA, and other institutions.
