First issue with 6 line colophon at rear, in first state jacket with no isbn to rear panel. Cranberry cloth boards, blind stamped front cover, spine lettered in gilt, top edge stained brown. Boards with some foxing to edges, spine a bit dulled else a near fine copy in very good, price-clipped jacket with foxing and a 3" closed tear to front panel.
Nice first issue of this classic from Dahl, with unaltered 6-line colophon and original Oompa-Loompa illustrations which were removed from later printings. Item #9763
