New York: Silver, Burdett and Company, 1932. Sample copy. 8vo. 368pp. Blue cloth boards with black ink titling and decoration to front and spine, spine faded, some edgewear, pages toned, stamped as Sample Copy on title page and ffep, the latter was crossed out with black sharpie, very good.

Dr. Cowley was the fourth woman to earn a doctorate in mathematics from Columbia University and wrote her dissertation on algebraic curves. She wrote two text books, this one in 1932 and Solid Geometry in 1934, while teaching high school math and then a book about public education called Free Learning in 1941, shortly after she retired. Cowley was a staunch advocator for the teaching of solid geometry at the high school level. She published numerous articles in academic journals, was a member of several professional organizations and a sought-after lecturer. Item #9361
