Very attractive binding on this compilation of popular poetry which was set to music and performed at various clubs and societies of the time. The title goes on list several such organizations including the Glee Club, Harmonists' Society, Lodge of Antiquity, Freemasons, and others.
This binding seemingly done for an H.J. Tyler of the Round, Catch, and Canon Club, which was a singing society founded in 1843 by Enoch Hawkins. The club's purpose was simply to sing new compositions of members and others in ten annual meetings, and from the annotations in this book, it appears they drew heavily from these texts. Item #9358
