Egyptian culture, albeit often a watered-down "egyptomaniacal" view of its culture, was undoubtedly a large influence on Rice's writings. The "Ramses the Damned" trilogy (the latter two of which were co-authored with her son, Christopher Rice) regale the adventures of Ramses, an Eqyptian Pharoah, who was resurrected in Edwardian England after drinking an elixir of life. However, her vampire novels also draw on Eqyptian mythological ideas like divine power and immortality and many characters parallel Egyptian gods and goddesses. This fascination seems to carry over to the Tarim mummies from the Ürümchi region as well.
