Rochester, N.Y. Printed by Marshall & Dean for the Genesee Christian Association, 1833. First edition thus. 10.5x7cm, vi, [2], 200pp. Contemporary mottled calf, spine ruled in gilt with black label. Boards rubbed around edges, gilt faded on spine. Small section trimmed from the ffep, few marginal stains and light foxing, else clean, sound and very good.

Pocket edition designed specifically for youth which presents these two classic 18th century texts of  spiritual understanding: A Treatise on Self-Knowledge by John Mason and The Grave by Robert Blair.  The language has been updated by Joseph Badger and Asa Chapin, two American ministers, with the smaller format being intended for daily use alongside one's bible.  


This is quite a scarce imprint, with OCLC citing holdings only at the University of Rochester and the AAS.
