Paris, New York: Goupil & Co., Art Publishers, 1902. First edition, number 159 of 200 copies on Holland Paper. Large 4to, 31x24cm, 87pp of text interleaved with over 100 plates and tipped in illustrations in color and black and white. Publisher's 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt, with marbled paper endpapers. Upper joint and edges of boards rubbed, small split to upper joint at head of spine. Former owner's bookplate to front pastedown, ticket from the Gotham Book Mart to rear. Page block somewhat toned, mainly the protective papers, else clean internally and very good.

Heavy volume and elegantly produced, being a review and analysis of the art exhibitions held in Paris in 1902.  Finely printed plate facsimiles of paintings and sculptures exhibited make up most of the book.  Text is in English, being translated from the French by Paul Villars.  Hamel produced several of these volumes beginning in 1890, this being one of the more extravagant in deluxe binding.
