Memoir of the Pilgrimage to Virginia of the Knights Templars of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, May, 1859.
Boston: A. Williams and Company, 1859. First edition. 8vo, xi, 211pp. Publisher's elaborately gilt and blind stamped red cloth, g.e. Presentation inscription from E. Sir John Dove to Samuel M. Todd on front fly. Spine faded, boards a bit worn at end caps and corners. Cambridge book store ticket to rear pastedown else clean internally and very good.
Commemorative text published shortly after the pilgrimage of the Sir Knights of the De Molay Encampment in Boston and St. Johns Encampment in Providence to the Richmond Commandery. Interesting is the provenance, with an inscription from E. Sir John Dove, who is listed in the appendix as a past grand commander of the Richmond Commandery, to Samuel M. Todd. Todd (1815-1905) served as Grand Master of Masons in Louisiana in 1859, 1868, and 1870-1872. He was also grand commander of the Knights Templar of Louisiana in 1866-67.
