New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1983. First edition. 8vo, 262pp. Bound in crushed, burgundy morocco stamped in gilt on front cover and spine, marbled endpapers, ribbon bookmark. Housed in brick red cloth case, lined with gray suede, and lettered on the spine. Fine condition. Laid in are promotional pamphlets and postcards for the 1989 and 1991 Los Angeles Times Book Awards.

Specially bound copy of "Walker Percy's Weirdest Book" done by Mel Kavin of Kater-Crafts Bookbinders.  The book won the 1983 Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Current Interest, and is stamped as such on the front cover.  

Lost in the Cosmos is a mock self-help book which contains numerous essays, quizzes, and thought experiments designed to satirize conventional self-help texts while provoking readers to undertake a thoughtful contemplation of their existential situations and the search for meaning and purpose that could derive from such reflections.
