The History of Prince Lee Boo a Native of the Pelew Islands Brought to England

Philadelphia: Printed for B. Johnson & J. Johnson, 1802. New Edition. 12mo in 6's, 14.5x9cm, 143pp. Engraved, illustrated title, portrait frontis, and 5 plates. Contemporary marbled paper boards rebacked with brown calf. Some scuffing and foxing to endpapers, mild toning to page block. Boards worn around edges. Very good, complete, and sound.

Very scarce American edition of this juvenile first published by Newbery, London in 1789.  The work is based off of George Keate's compilation of Wilson and others' journals which was published as An Account of the Pelew Islands in 1788.  It was shortened and retitled for a younger audience, selling quite well and going through several printings in London.  This American edition remains scarce in the trade.
