Possession

New York: W.W. Norton and Company, 1983. First edition. Hardcover in illustrated jacket by Paul Bacon. Inscribed by Rule on the ffep with a note from her including her address and designating the book "irreplacable!" adhered over her inscription. Thin damp stain to fore edge of page block, jacket with some edge wear and a few small stains. Very good.

First and only novel from the woman who popularized and shaped the modern true crime genre.  Following the success of her first book, The Stranger Beside Me, which chronicled her relationship with Ted Bundy, Rule took what was to be her only foray into crime fiction.  Possession tells a story of survival in the Cascade mountains by a woman whose husband is killed in a camping accident and who is confronted by a suspicious stranger she must trust to survive.

This copy comes from Ann Rule's estate and bears an interesting inscription from her:

"A friend of mom's is a friend of mine!"

Clearly this copy was special to her in some way, perhaps being a memento of her mother given to her after her passing in 1995.
