Printed on handmade paper and bound in publisher's full vellum stamped in gilt on the spine. Some smudging and scuffing to boards, clean internally and very good.
Finely printed and bound edition of Marcus Woodward's version of John Gerard's famous herbal first published in 1597. This first edition of Woodward's has become the standard, modern example of the text which is simplified from the 1636 revision by Thomas Johnson. It retains much of the original spelling while being quite approachable and readable. Numerous later editions of the Woodward version have appeared since.
