Misery [William Goldman's Copy of the VHS]
Beverly Hills: Castle Rock Entertainment, 1990. VHS tape in custom green leather and cloth clamshell case, decorated in gilt with WG on front panel. Marbled paper interior with Goldman Library stamp, and Beverly Hills Bookbinding Service label. Fine condition.
From the library of William Goldman, his VHS of Stephen King's Misery, for which he wrote the screenplay. The film was directed and produced by Rob Reiner, who chose Goldman to write the script, the two having previously collaborated on Goldman's The Princess Bride. Misery is the only film based on a Stephen King novel to win an Oscar, Kathy Bates winning Best Actress in 1991 for her memorable portrayal of Annie Wilkes. Goldman himself suggested Bates for the part.
An incredible piece of film history, and a movie which Stephen King praised as being one of his top ten favorite adaptations.
