Very scarce collection of short tales for children from Seventh-day Adventist author and missionary, Josephine Cunnington Edwards (1904-1993).  Edwards spent seven years in Africa, her time there influencing this collection (published by the Seventh-day Adventist radio ministry, the Voice of Prophecy) and several other of her books.  Stories include the title tale, "Lions are Afraid of Spears," "Lions are Afraid of Prayer," "Beer on the Porch," "Ngawanyemba's Witch Trick," Ngawanyemba's Wicked Porch," and others.
