Publisher's pictorial gray paper boards backed in beige cloth, spine lettered in red, edges stained red, in plain, printed jacket. Boards bumped along edges with some light soiling. Jacket with some scattered staining and light chipping along edges else nicely preserved. Very good.
Beautifully illustrated retelling of this folk tale by German writer and educator, Wilhelm Kotzde (1878-1948). The artist, Ernst Liebermann (1869-1960) was known for his landscape painting, though early in his career found success in the illustration world, providing images for popular collections of fairy tales. This book is quite uncommon in the jacket. . Item #5526
