Number 58 of 200 copies. 2 volumes, folio and quarto, xxx, [2], 11, [1]pp and 11, [1]pp. Engraved frontis and title in the main volume, along with compliments slip of William Andrews Clark Jr. tipped in at front. Companion volume in facsimile. Both in vellum backed pale paper boards, red spine labels, the companion volume a portfolio housing the gatherings bound in plain paper wraps, as issued. All housed in publisher's hefty paper slipcase with printed spine label. Spines a bit foxed, pages partially unopened in main volume. Slipcase worn and somewhat soiled. A very good set.

Beautifully designed and printed edition of Gray's Elegy, with William Andrews Clark Jr.'s historical and biographical foreword and James Southall Wilson's introduction.  The second volume contains a meticulous facsimile for the rare first edition of 1751 with Frederick Locker-Lampson's manuscript annotations.
