Scarce copy of Thomas Taylor's translations of Ocellus Lucanus, Taurus, Maternus, and Proclus on cosmology and the eternity of the universe, the nature of time, and Hellenistic astrology. Taylor (1758-1835) was the principal English translator of the works of Neoplatonism including Plato, Plotinus, Proclus, and Iamblichus. These translations influenced writers such as Shelley, Blake, Wordsorth and others. They also became important in the Victorian occult revival and helped shape the movements and writings of Blavatsky, Manly Hall, A.E. Waite, and others in the Western Esoteric tradition. Item #10119
