First edition thus, limited to 200 copies. 9x7" [9], ii-xiv, [3], 2-112, [3]pp. Frontis illustration, title in two colors, ornamental headpieces, errata and publisher's ads at rear. Gift inscription from D[imitrije] Mitrinović to Helen Soden and dated in 1933 on verso of ffep. Parchment over boards, lettered and decorated in red and black. Back strip chipped, joints with splitting, though sound. Boards with toning and soiling. Endpapers toned, few pencil marks to the text else clean internally and very good.

Highly interesting copy of this Redway limited edition of The Divine Pymander with introduction and prelminary essay by Hargrave Jennings.  The printing is a reset version of John Everard's important 1650 translation into English.  


This copy gifted by the influential Serbian philosopher and mystic, Dimitrije Mitrinović (1887-1953) to one of his followers in London, Helen Soden (Dimitrije Mitrinović: A Biography, Andrew Rigby, 2016).  Mitrinovic appeared in intellectual and artistic circles in London following WWI and described a utopian vision of European unity through spiritual consciousness and psychological integration. Among his followers were a young Alan Watts, Philip Mairet, Alfred Orage, Violet MacDermot, and others.  

A scarce edition of this important Hermetic text, and an interesting relic from an influential, behind-the-scenes figure in European philosophical and esoteric thought from the pre-war years.
