Short TLS from the first African American woman to serve in the Texas Senate and first Southern, after Shirley Chisholm of New York, African American woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.  

This letter acknowledges a photo request, though at this point in the second year of her term in office, and following on the heels of her famous opening remarks in the Nixon impeachment hearings, Mrs. Jordan is indeed out of photographs. Item #5540
