Highlights in the Building of America

Detroit: International Edugraphic Inc., 1938. 19x31cm. 46pp plus 10 sets of 12 printed, picture postcards in original, numbered envelopes. Green, brad-bound paper wrappers show light soiling and toning. All postcards are unpunched. A nearly fine, complete set.

A wonderfully illustrated series of educational cards meant to be punched out and mounted in the accompanying booklet, which contains captions for each image as well as a few longer blurbs on various events in American History.  Sections include Discover, Early Exploration and Settlements, The Pilgrims, The French and Indian War, Causes and Periods of the Revolution, The Life of Washington, etc., through the Civil War.

Likely a promotional effort by "Kroger's Clock Bread Picture Club," the envelopes housing the pictures state, "There are 120 pictures in this series.  Be sure to get your new set of 12 each week."  The booklet also lists several joint sponsors including the Department of Commerce, National Museum, NYPL, the Met, and others.

We find no mention of this publication in OCLC nor elsewhere.
