London: Modern Astrology Offices, 1936-37. First edition. 4 individual issues, each 25x16cm, various paginations. Diagrams, few plate illustrations, each issue with separately paginated advertisements section. Printed wraps, generally very good with toning, soiling, and occasional light chipping. All issues complete.

Mixed set of 4 New Series issues of Alan Leo's (1860-1917) Modern Astrology magazine, including February 1932, July-August 1933, November-December 1934, and September-October 1935.  The magazine was founded in 1890 as The Astrologer's Magazine, changing its name to Modern Astrology in 1895.  Its stated object was to "thoroughly purify and re-establish the ancient science of Astrology.  Through planetary symbology, it seeks to explain the ONE universal spirit in its varied manifestations." 


The periodical ran all the way until 1940, and along with other publications from its founder, helped revive astrology in the West after a steady decline the previous century.  


Issues in the original wraps are uncommon.
