Group of Art Exhibition Ephemera owned by American Illustrator, Constance Cozzens Milton

Wilmington; Swarthmore: Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts; Delaware Art Museum; Swarthmoren College Wilcox Gallery and others, 1962-1972. Generally very good or better with some underlining and annotations in pencil and pen to a few of the items, light overall wear. Grouping of ephemeral material relating to the Pre-Raphaelite artists, The Wyeths, and others owned by American Illustrator of "The Giraffe's Necktie," Constance Cozzens Milton (1907-1991). Milton only wrote and illustrated the one title in 1969, but as far as we can find, was also exhibiting her work in Missoula, Montana near the end of her life, some 20 years later.

Roughly twenty items including pamphlets, brochures, printouts, newspaper clippings, order forms, etc. from the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts, Delaware Art Museum, and Brandywine Arts Festival.

Milton has signed her name on a few of the items, including a bulletin from the Delaware Art Museum, September 1972 where she notes her great grandfather as being American marine artist, Fred S. Cozzens (1846-1928). One of the artists in this particular exhibition, F.O.C. Darley provided illustrations for "The Sparrowgrass Papers," by Cozzens, as noted by Milton.

The Wyeths are heavily represented with several nicely printed exhibition materials with biographical sketches, family trees, and facsimiles of works such as "The Island Funeral."

A nice archive of materials from a lesser known American illustrator. Item #4989

Price: $150.00
