First edition. 12mo, 17 x 11cm, [iii], iv, [1], iii, [2], 356, [4]pp. Charts, tables throughout. Half dark calf, red morocco spine label lettered in gilt, marbled boards, all edges stained red. Very good with rubbing to boards and wear along edges. Bookplate of F. G. Irwin on front pastedown. Collects all 17 issues of this pocket journal, published sporadically from August 1824 - January 1825, along with a section of Partridge's Opus Reformatum. The publication sought to restore the practice of astrology to its technical roots laid out by Ptolemy and other great astrologers of yore, and rid the science of the fantasy and magic which had crept in. Major F. G. Irwin was a noted freemason and occultist of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and frequent correspondent to A. E. Waite. Gardner 918. Item #4803
