Scarce early copy of the english translation of this occult work coming from German pamphlets collected in the 18th and 19th centuries. The de Laurence version, which could be ordered by mail, helped spread and popularize the work in America, particularly in the south. Published originally in 1910, this copy is dated 1914, though contains the statement "This Rare and wonderful book, translated under personal supervision into the English language, and published for the first time," on the title page. This statement is missing on later copies, and the title page in general has been revised in later editions. The de Laurence edition was in print for some time, and early versions are quite scarce. Dark green boards with gold gilt writing and design on cover and spine. Good condition with wear and fading to spine. Hinges are cracked, though still holding. Complete and unmarked internally. Good.
